Notes of oral applications taken in North Carolina in conjunction with the Churchill roll. The applications include the vital statistics of the applicant, including name, residence, birth dates, and names and dates of relatives. Many applicants cite relatives listed on the Hester roll, and a rubber stamp "Hester" with the relevant often appears next to those names. Some applications include follow up and comments by the individual taking the applications. Also includes minutes of the meeting of the Cherokee Council made during the reading of the names on the roll, 22-29 April 1908. Council members included James Blythe, Dawson George, and Saunook Littlejohn for Wolftown; Andrew Otter, Sampson Welch, and Moses Partridge for Birdtown; Shell Oosowit and Lawyer Calhoun for Painttown; Lloyd Owl and John Wolfe for Bigcove; and Dow Cornsilk for [Grahm?] and Cherokee. Council officers included Dave Blythe, Morgan Calhoun, and Bird Sawlaneeta; Executive Officers: J.A. Tahquette, English Clerk; Will Locust, Cherokee Clerk; David Ahnachain, Marshall; John Goins, Principal Chief; Joseph Saunooke, Assistant Chief. Ledger begins on November 8, 1907 and ends on April 29, 1908.
